I didn't begin the year tasked with finding four quite terrific new albums from my homeland of Sweden.    Yet it happened with Lykke Li's Wounded Rhymes, PB & J's Gimme Some, Those Dancing Days' Daydreams and Nightmares, and now with Little Dragon's Ritual Union.    Little Dragon assures itself significance in modern pop with urgent R&B vocals piled upon fresh synth work and spacey rhythms on their third LP.    Stereolab meets Broadcast with the thickly layered beats and quirk like that of Mux Mool or Dabrye.    The evolutionary tracks: Please Turn and Shuffle a Dream.

Album Review Those Dancing Days - Daydreams and Nightmares

Five ladies from just outside Stockholm, Sweden called Those Dancing Days have just perfected their pop recipe and released an album called Daydreams and Nightmares.    It trends a trajectory between the chiming guitars of The Cure, the vocal energy of No Doubt's vocalist without the peculiar warble, and a thick wedge of Goldfrapp's keyboard explosions.    The gals were on tour with The Strokes during the past couple of months.    That would've been a great gig.

Album Review:Lykke Li-Wounded Rhymes

Lykke Li's newest album Wounded Rhymes is a trip through many of her global and stylistic influences, likely due to her nomadic , bohemian upbringing.    This 25 year old Swede has crafted something terrifically unusual as she and the band move from pop to blues to outer space and then nearly to gospel before being swallowed by anthemic pop throughout the journey.    Delicious stuff.
