When you step back to consider that Dredg's new album is entitled Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy, produced and partly co-written by Dan the Automator, the band was once part of Interscope, in addition to its nutbar cover, you might expect above average results. The first couple of tracks, "Another Tribe" and "Upon Returning", respectively, provide promise on the prediction, but Chuckles and Mr. Squeezy will leave listeners disappointed, even after repeated plays, as it's devoid of juicy hooks or clever ideas or arrangements. Apart from a capable vocalist who appears schooled on Barry Manilow, Dredg's newest is, unfortunately, as forgettable as Duran Duran's latest, but without any sexy video.
